The Rotary Club of Bowen Island, we’d love to talk to you. Please come to one of our in-person Monday night meetings and ask any of the leadership to tell you about The Rotary Club of Bowen Island. Your interest will be welcome, and there will be no pressure to join. There is lots for you to discover, both about the work and history of this club, and the accomplishment of the 33,000 clubs that make up Rotary International.
Food Is Medicine - Artist ; Hyunjoo Lee
Food has the power to heal your body, mind and relationships. We have used food to fill hungry bellies, mend broken hearts, celebrate special moments, and share love and blessings throughout our lives.
After 20 years as a doctor of Oriental Medicine Pharmacy and healing through a vegan diet, Dr. Hyunjoo Lee has expanded her practice to include cooking, making and enjoying teas, and presenting food and plants through painting and music while communing with the spiritual healing power of plants.
This exhibition is a selection of 40 paintings from her [Magic Spoon – Turn Back Time] published in 2024. Most of her paintings were done in her atelier on Mt. Gardner, Bowen Island. We hope that her paintings convey healing energy.
Once a month, we host a vegan potluck. It doesn't matter if you're vegan or not, just bring a vegan dish to share and have a good time.
Join our email list, and never miss a vegan potluck!

About this Talk ;
Today’s food system not only contributes to global crises – the climate emergency, food insecurity, biodiversity loss, and deforestation – it also threatens our health. The more we consume, the sicker we and the planet become. While governments and policy makers can create solutions at a structural level, individuals can take concrete action for the planet and for personal health with their daily meals. What ingredients should we choose? How should we cook? How should we dispose of waste? And how should we eat? This talk will provide a practical guide to realizing ecological values through food.
